Procrastination and Recommendation

So. I'm not in a coma, and I have new stuff to tell you, but you know... the busyness of it all. Since I last ranted, there has been a bunch of bike riding, a higher than usual volume of socializing (probably because of the lower than usual volume of out of town), a kayak trip (that will get its own entry, stay tuned) and, most time-consuming of all, one of those periods where you realize that you own too much crap and consequently I've been sorting through CDs and books and other accumulated junk and getting that good feeling that comes from dumping the whole mess on the used stuff stores. I've also been appreciating living on the farm, this being the time when tomatoes are ripe and it's not too hot or too buggy to spend time in the adirondack chairs, watching the world go by. And I still want a cat. There, that's the update on my life.

But! There is interesting stuff for you to look at. See, I'm not into the whole blog culture - as in, I've never really understood "rings" and "collaborations" and all those other things. So it should come as no surprise that I had no idea what "blog day" is, but I got an email about it so I looked it up. The way I understand it, it's a day to recommend other blogs. And because of this event, I have discovered what has to count as one of the more interesting blogs out there: check out Clare Kines' blog. Especially go there if the stories on this site that you're drawn to have been the Arctic ones. Because this blog? Comes to you from 73 degrees north, from the hamlet of Arctic Bay, Nunavut. And those are the blogs I find most interesting: the ones of people living everyday life in a very different place (and I stole *that* phrase from another blog type page that I find absolutely fascinating, but I'm going to be a tease and not tell you about it, because I don't think it's public yet).

Ok, gotta go. There's that job thing, and wanting to read the entire archive on the Arctic blog, and wanting to find time to write a new trip report, and then there is still some junk in my apartment that I need to sort through and... did I tell you I'm going to Norway this weekend? Heh.
