Web geek reality

"Oh no, a blogger" is what Matthias said when I was all intrigued by some idea encountered on the web and pulled up the page to show him where I'd seen the idea. I agreed with him, the whole blogging phenomenon is weird. Heh.

Markus is forever trying to get the rest of us to jump on the instant messaging bandwagon. Of course, I adamantly refuse. My reasons are not particularly thought out - because Markus managed to shoot every one of them down when I listed them. I just don't want to. But on the rare occasion when I'm logged into the nerdranch in the linux shell, and Markus notices and does the talk thing, then of course I think it's the coolest thing ever.

Last night, I was talking to Marlene, and she said, there are all these weird acronyms, like... ROTFL, FWIW, IMHO... and I knew what they all meant. I don't like 'em, but I knew what they meant.

Three siblings. Three anecdotes that illustrate that I am indeed a web geek (somehow, I was under the impression that having a web page that gets updated most every week doesn't qualify me. Ha!)

You'd think with this revelation that my geekdom is indeed multi-faceted, I would be able to successfully change the IP address for the greenfieldsfarm.ca domain to reflect nerdranch's recent move, now, wouldn't you? But no... stymied by zoneedit.

Harumph.
